My comment

This YB(Yang Biadap) ought to research more on whether Malaysia is an Islamic country. The following is why this YB is wrong when he stated that "Ini Negara Islam", or in english, it simply means Islamic State.

1. Malaysia's official religion is Islam under the Article 3 of the Federal Constitution, whereas Article 152 states that Malay is the official language of the country. When Malaysia acquired independence, a special committee led by the late Tunku Abdul Rahman submitted a memorandum to the Reid Commission referring to religion. The following is extracted from The Malaysian Bar Council referring to paragraph 169 of the memorandum.
“The religion of Malaysia shall be Islam. The observance of this principle shall not impose any disability on non-Muslim nationals professing and practising their own religion, and shall not imply that the State is not a secular State.”
SHALL NOT IMPLY THAT THE STATE IS NOT A SECULAR STATE. It simply means, Malaysia is a secular state.

2. If Malaysia is an Islamic state, what is the function of Parti Islam se-Malaysia(Pas)? Aren't they fighting for Malaysia to be the modernised Mecca?


3. To govern a country the Islamic way, you have to imply teachings from the Al Quran. Malaysia practises syariah, Islamic trading laws, Islamic civil laws, but not Hudud(Islamic Criminal Laws)? How can you say: "ok, I want to implement Islamic trading laws, Islamic civil Laws. Hmmmm. Hudud? No lah. Don't want lah. If I am caught stealing, my hands will be chopped off". My dear friends(Muslims), isn't Muslim or Islam practised as a whole? Can we pick to practise what we like, and not practise what we don't like?

4. Islamic countries has jurisdiction with accordance to the Al-Quran, just like what Prophet Muhammad did with his friend in Madinah. If Malaysia is an Islamic State, what is the name of Madinah when Prophet Muhammad and his friends governed it? They practise Islam as a whole, not partially.

My friends, especially the Muslims, I am not a racist, neither am I against Islam. What I am trying to stress, is that when Tunku Abdul Rahman got our Independence, it was because of the unity we showed, Malays, Chinese and Indians alike. UMNO has been covering and diverting facts of history, which resulted in many being in the dark. They can continue doing that, but whether we would allow ourselves to be sucked into his hole, is another issue. Malaysia for Malaysians=)
